Launch of the online resource for building social cohesion in communities

The interactive online resource ‘Building Social Cohesion in our Communities’, developed by ACELG for the Australian Human Rights Commission, will be launched at the Municipal Association of Victoria’s offices in Melbourne on August 27 2015.

The resource is structured around five elements of building social cohesion based on international and Australian best practice, and features case studies from local government (including Victorian councils) and tips and templates for implementing good practice at a local level.

The launch will feature addresses from: Cr Rod Fyffe, MAV Board Member and Multicultural Committee Chair; Rivkah Nissim, Australian Human Rights Commission Discrimination and Research Manager; Melissa Gibbs, Australian Centre of Excellence for Local Government Deputy Director; and Lidia Thorpe, MAV Aboriginal Employment Project Adviser.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore the resource ‘live’, discuss how it can be applied in their council, and share an afternoon tea.
