NSW Council Workforce Survey

NSW Council Workforce Survey
15 November 2015

Local Government NSW (LGNSW) is leading the development of a workforce development strategy for the NSW sector and is inviting input from all NSW councils via a state-wide survey.

The survey is open until Wednesday 26th November. The survey is available here.

This workforce initiative from LGNSW, in consultation with the NSW Office of Local Government and other stakeholder organisations, responds to a recommendation from the 2014 NSW Independent Review Panel that a workforce development strategy be prepared for NSW local government, with a focus upon skills shortages, talent development, attraction and retention and leadership training.

The LGNSW Strategy will closely align with ACELG's Future-Proofing Local Government: National Workforce Strategy 2013-2020 prepared in 2012 for ACELG by LGMA National (now called Local Government Professionals Australia), plus other resources developed by the ACELG consortium to support workforce development in the  Australian local government sector. The ACELG National Workforce Strategy - the first of its kind for the sector - continues to support local governments around the country, with a guide and report about the Mature Workforce to be released by LG Professionals soon.

ACELG and UTS:CLG are part of the working group convened by LGNSW to develop the NSW Local Government Workforce Development Strategy.

The survey is open until Wednesday 26th November. The survey is available here.
