The UTS Centre for Local Government is an autonomous unit within the University of Technology, Sydney. The Centre`s activities are diverse and include:
- professional development programs for local government personnel and associated professionals
- a Graduate Diploma in Local Government Management
- research into various aspects of local government and governance
- specialist consultancy services for councils and State and Federal agencies
- international programs and projects.
The Centre promotes a cooperative approach to local government education, research and development, and maintains close ties with a large number of local government associations, professional institutes and academic bodies in Australia, the Asia-Pacific and globally.
The Centre`s mission is to support the advancement and improvement of local government both in Australia and internationally through leadership in education and research, and by providing specialist consultancy services.
