Sasindu joined ACELG in early 2014. She has a range of skills in both quantitative and qualitative research and provides research and technical assistance to ACELG’s academic and professional staff. Prior to joining CLG, Sasindu was employed as a research assistant at the National Association of Community Legal Centres (NACLC); data analyst at the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS); and administrative assistant at the Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation (CESE), NSW Department of Education. She has also conducted economic research and data administration for the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU), was employed as statistical consultant for a UNSW Faculty of Law publication; and volunteered as a data administrator for the Public Education Foundation (PEF).
Sasindu has a Bachelor of Social Science and Bachelor of Economics double degree from UNSW (2012), with majors in Social Science and Policy, Economics, Economic History and Psychology. At the conclusion of her degree Sasindu undertook a qualitative research internship offered by the UNSW Faculty of Social Science. The resulting research report identified and compared permanent supportive housing programs in both Australia and overseas, and examined the role of permanent supportive housing in the broader homelessness service sector in Australia. In the interest of pursuing further quantitative studies, Sasindu is currently undertaking a Master of Science (Applied Statistics) on a part-time basis.
