CLAIR Forum 2012
The Japan Local Government Centre (CLAIR), in collaboration with UTS:CLG, ACELG, and OSIPP (Osaka School of International Public Policy, Osaska University) held the 2012 CLAIR Forum at UTS on Friday 17th of August. The forum aimed to share recent experiences in both Japan and Australia on the topic, `Improving local government efficiency and performance` and featured speakers from both countries.
The forum was facilitated by Centre Director, Professor Graham Sansom, and opened by Dr Masahiro Kohara, Consul-General of Japan, and Professor Attila Brungs, UTS Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research. The keynote speaker for the forum was Professor Nobuo Akai, Osaka School of International Public Policy, who outlined Jigyou Shiwake - The Japanese Approach to Local Government Public Policy and Program Review. Other forum speakers included Kylie Cantwell from Hobart City Council, Corin Moffat from the NSW Division of Local Government, and Steve Vlahos from the Victorian Auditor General`s Office.
